Williams viewed a rough cut of the film on October 1, 2001 at Skywalker Ranch and spotted it with director George Lucas and sound designer Ben Burtt the next day. He worked on the score fromthat time until he recorded the music in January of 2002 in London.

The soundtrack album to Revenge of the Sith was released by Sony Classical on May 3, 2005. It debuted at number six on Billboard's Top 200, selling 95,000 copies in its first week.
Revenge of the Sith was released on DVD on November 1, 2005. The soundtrack album (see above) comes packaged with a DVD featuring music videos from all six Star Wars films, including "Battle of the Heroes" from Revenge of the Sith.
